My thoughts on the 3DS.

So, I recently purchased myself a 3DS, I hadn’t used, or experienced the 3D’ness’ of the device. Nor know if i can see the 3D in question.

Initial thoughts – Nice looking box, the “Aqua Blue” is quite striking, the hardware itself, especially around the main hinge seems a little flimsy. Loving the charging cradle, very good idea, given the horrid battery life. Would definitely rather the cable itself if i’m playing it in my own time.

Included Software – Quite on the average side with included games. AR Games are fun for about 5-10 minutes once you get used to the 3D settings. Mii Maker and Plaza info soon.

Games Catalogue – Average at time of purchase (3DS games anyway) the only ones of any interest of myself was Ridge Racer 3D and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Shadow Wars (Mouthful much?)

Ridge Racer is a decent representaion of the series, the speed is there, the framerate is there (albeit one race in particular, horrible framerates ugh) the textures are quite average, but at the speeds the game is running at, you won’t be sitting there intently looking at the textures. Overall a good game.

Shadow Wars is a pretty decent turn based shooter, Models are a little blocky, sound seems fine to me, haven’t given it a go due to a ‘killer app’ release. More on this later.
